I wish I bought a smaller incline mat. I thought the bigger the better and I read about how important the incline is. But it's WAY too much for my 5 year olds to be safe on, for practicing walkovers and handsprings like I intended. Even my tall 9 year old is scared on it with such a drop. And it's NOT soft. It's been used a few times with the utmost of supervision. It hasn't softened up yet. I hope it does. It's not as hard as hitting the ground, but not tooooo far off. I'd recommend this for tweens, teens and adult gymnastics. If you can find a somewhat softer mat, I'd also go with that. It is good to be firm for certain tricks, but you want it to protect your head and neck and provide a somewhat comfortable fall. This one is pretty tough, but again.. maybe it will soften? I'm going to use it as a mini vault folded up for my twins.I love the folding feature, and the length and width is awesome for big tricks, but the incline is too much for what my intentions were. You gotto be careful :).
