If you're a ";lighter is better"; shooter, the CrossTac RECON Padded Shooting Mat will help keep you super mobile and super accurate. CrossTac built their bipod rail into both sides of the mat for greater stability and shooting accuracy. Grommets can be used to pin it down or tie it out for a hasty shelter. There is also flat bungee straps to hold the mat closed when rolled up and Molle to attach it to whatever you want. The mat is made of two layers of 500D cordura for toughness, full mil-spec webbing to pack down to a small 14"; x 6"; size. The fabric is coated on the inside with 500 Denier WR (water resistant) and urethane. To repel water, CrossTac designed a sewn in layer of 1/8 thick premium american-made foam. This CrossTac RECON Padded Shooting Mat gives just enough extra protection and insulation from the elements to keep you comfortable.
Integral web bipod rails on each side
Padding adds 1/8 inch of closed-cell premium foam and approx. 6 ounces weight
Perfect for shoot and move, bevy, or any mobile application
Dual layers of 500-denier WR cordura, urethane coated inside for highest water resistance possible, WR means water Repellent coated on the outside
This is an excellent option for a shooting mat.-weight is very reasonable, certainly nothing to complain about. I don't know of a padded shooting mat that's any lighter.-Because it's padded, you can use it as a hot-weather sleeping mat. It's only a little bit of insulation, but it's much better than nothing, and sufficient when the weather is in the "hot as **** " range.-if you roll your rifle up like a burrito in the mat and then fold the bottom closed and tie it shut, you can turn this thing into an improvised drag-bag using some 550 cord. You'll have the added advantage of being able to shoot on a mat whenever you get where you're crawling to. It's really quite nice to not have to lay directly on unpleasant terrain (rocks, sticks, bugs, hot rooftops, etc) if you have the option not to.
