I'm in an apartment with cheap, low pile carpeting so there is no way the pile is too high for this mat to do its job properly. My chair will not roll across the mat without extraordinary effort. I have to lift all or most of my weight off the chair and sort of "duck walk" to get to my desk. I get as close as I can and then I have to lean back taking some weight off the front wheels and grab the desk and yank it as hard as I can to get my chair up close enough for me to work. It did this from day one on cheap, thin carpeting with very little padding under it. The only thing it does (I think) is keep the chair from prematurely wearing areas of the carpet but can't be sure at this point because I haven't lifted it up to check. It is MUCH easier to roll my chair without the pad, directly on the carpeting.Wasted my money on this one.I've resisted filing this review because I hate giving negative feedback it looks like the only way these emails to review the chair will stop is if I do the review. Wish I could have said something like "Incredible! My chair glides effortlessly across the mat adding to the pleasure of my work day. The only con is that sometimes I'm tempted to just roll around on the mat doing figure eights with full spins instead of doing my work.I had this mat for a long time and never was entirely satisfied with it. I recently replaced the mat which made clear to me the source of my dissatisfaction. Compared to other, only slightly more expensive mats, it is just doggone THIN. Because of this, it doesn’t provide the support or resilience you need from this item. Also, my mat got slightly bent, and I was never able to get it to straighten out again, even by placing it on a flat surface in full, warm sunlight for extended periods, both with and without heavy objects placed on it.On the plus side, the mat is nice and large and low cost, but remember - you get what you pay for.Worked well when first got it. With the amount of use and weight going on it, obviously no indestructible. Has gotten brittle and cracked. Will need to replaceReceived the chairmat and the material is much thinner than what is described in the dimensions of the product. It's better than not having a chairmat at all, but not quite adequate for carpet with padding.Can't seem to find a quality chairmat anywhere that is reasonably priced!My original review was praise. After three months periodic use, like on the weekend, I find the product junk. DO NOT BUY! I weigh 200 lbs, have a 5 leg quality office chair and is on short berber carpeting. I cannot believe the amount of total thru cracking that is showing up. Not just in 1 or 2 spots either. I asked this seller for support and recieved none. This was NOT a cheap $20 mat. I am in the process of seeing if the company can assist. Save yourself some big trouble and wasted money. DO NOT BUY!Ordered this mat back in February of 2013, has now started cracking in several spots and will need to be replaced after just one year of use !!This is my third chair mat of this size. I'm not sure if all three were the same brand but the first 2 lasted several years each and I spend a LOT of time in my computer chair and I'm over 200 pounds. I expect this mat to last several years as well. It's heavy duty and it protects the carpet nicely. The larger size lets me move around some in my chair. If the mat doesn't last like I expect I'll update my review but I really don't expect that to happen.A large, flexible mat with small "spikes" on the underside for gripping carpet (NOT for hardwood). I've placed this mat on Berber carpet, which has a decorative rug on top - the mat actually spans both. I don't feel a bump between the two, and the wide mat allows me to scoot my chair back and forth along my large sewing table. Excellent product, and lightening fast shipping - arrived the next day! Sold by OfficeSlide and fulfilled by Amazon (who must have a fulfillment center in my backyard!)
