I bought this sling because my old mat had a sling and I wanted a new one for the new Manduka mat that I bought. I prefer the sling over the bag because it is less cumbersome and I think it allows the mat to breath better after use. I love the durability of this sling and how it can adjust to whatever length you need based on your body size and it also has a convenient place to clip your keys on. The bag that comes with it is a bit too big for my liking but I guess if you had a lot of stuff to bring to yoga class then it would be great. The only thing I don't like about the sling is that the loops that you place around the mat slide off if there is not enough tension in the sling, so if you put your mat down on one end and then try to pick it back up you might only have one side of the mat in the sling. This is just a minor inconvenience that laying your mat down flat every time could be avoided, otherwise I love this sling and would highly recommend it.I actually had wanted the Manduka Practice Tote, but unfortunately, I could not get my hands on the color I wanted (yes, I am that particular!). I ordered this sling as a consolation prize and I am so happy I did! The sling itself is comfortable and adjustable, and it is fast and easy to slip onto my mat after class (no awkward struggling with the straps or stuffing of the mat into a bag). The clip-on accessory bag is large enough to hold my ID, an inhaler, my car keys, and a typical-sized water bottle, with a little wiggle room to spare. I don't think I could be more happy with this item!The physics of carrying a mat in this sort of open hanging manner have both inherent advantages-- ease, speed- and disadvantages- shifting a lot, easily unbalanced, banging against you or getting caught on things. This sling is a basic accessory, very well made & the clip works well. It is slighly mystifying the first few times you use it & is exceptionally sturdy. Has no real flaws & does the job. If the banging around (I can see this getting caught on doorways & such) is a real detriment, use an enclosed bag. I like this for the grab & go plain Jane minimalist utility. Very sturdy.I purchased the extra long manduka mat and was concerned that the Manduka Mat Sling would not fit around the thickness of the rolled mat. The sling works very well on the mats extra length and thickness. The product is well made. The strap is sturdy. The pouch is just right to keep small items stored. It's easy to carry around. It's just as easy to fold and store when not using. And the design in fashionable,yet strudy. Excellent product.Having actively studied Hatha Yoga for over 10 years, I didn't feel that the mat makes a difference, and didn't want to shell out $60, $70, so as a result, I used THE SAME MAT I STARTED WITH! 10 years! Many of us of get a mat from a national discounter, and just crack on. Invest in a good mat. It makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE in one's practice. The mat sling is overpriced, and others can be obtained for less. Namaste!After using this for a couple of months I thought a review was in order.It's awesome sauce! I use it for my Manduka mat pro and it's so long it works like a dream. Carries comfortably and holds on tight to the mat without digging in. So pleased with this strap, highly recommend.I love this mat. The quality is incredible, you truly do get what you pay for. I almost didn't buy it because of the reviews that stated how heavy it is but it really is NOT that heavy, do not let that keep you from buying it. (Unless you weigh about 40lbs...then it might seem a bit heavy!) Great mat!!This mat sling is so awesome. I've read several reviews for other mat slings complaining about the straps not being long enough to wrap around their mat because there isn't enough velcro lining on the straps. This sling has NO velcro but is adjustable through a metal ring. The shoulder strap, though, is adjustable via velcro which creates some extra padding. The clip-on pouch is the best.
